You are interested in participating Brightening Penicuik for one week in May 2014, from 9th – 16th May ?

Fantastic!

Here is what to do:

Be inspired!
- by what other folks have done locally, nationally and internationally. Check our “Brightening Penicuik” website ,
- or google for more on “yarn storming”, “craft bombing” etc
skills, patterns and stash:
- use and re-cycle what you have
- or get in touch to acquire more
- and remember to drop off any donations at the Gallery Cafe in West Street, marked “for Brightening Penicuik”, or at the Scotstown Minersclub
see public sites in Penicuik you might you want to decorate? (pillars, railing, lampposts, fences, tree trunks, house fronts)
- just imagine little bright craft bombs or big yarn storm pieces there !!
- think big (how about a wee 5inch jacket for EVERY lamp post in your street?),
- and think small is beautiful too (a wee mouse sitting on a fence?)
- see the smiles you going to create!
- and check with Ruth (07818 061918; or email pcaa@penicuikarts.org) whether your chosen spots are ‘free’
the more the merrier ! Join up with others or form your own formidable team!

become an ambassador for Brightening Penicuik :

spread the word,
help getting resources (enthusiasm, people, yarns, patterns, monetary donations for insurance and publicity)
and help in May with installation

other important points : our co-ordination and commitment

You and/or your group will be self-organising.
You (as in individual or as a group) need to register your participation with PCAA (contact us)
you (or your friends) will install the decorations on or around the 9th May
you (or team) will monitor them until the 16th May and take it down again
you will adhere to Midlothian Council’s H&S requirements

You can trust that support is at hand at every step of the way.

Last year we had fabulous self organizing teams working together amazingly well, even when strong winds and unkind vandals created havoc. We trust that this year we will do even better, bigger and brighter and show the world that Penicuik is beautiful by the genial hands of its citizens and friends!

This project is a minimum resource use project, Brilliantly Recycling stuff and stash!

Presently we anticipate to need monetary resources only for the Insurance (ca £200) and the printing and laminating of publicity materials (ca £60 – £80?) . Cool, eh? If you can help with that – the Brightening Penicuik abundance kitty is ready, and has already £50 in it!!
