PENICUIK BUNTING PROJECT
In the past few years bunting has become an essential part of many celebrations. Inspired by the Barra Bunting Project, where local people, visitors and anyone who has ever visited the island or had a connection with it, were invited to design and make a piece of bunting.
After everyone had handed in their own unique piece, the bunting was joined together to make an impressive, high quality garland of heritage standard. It is an ongoing project and will keep going as long as people keep handing in their creations.
The results are spectacular, see for yourself by visiting their website www.barrabunting.net
We are trying to do the same thing in Penicuik, a truly collaborative piece of community art which could grow and grow…just like the Barra project.
We invite anybody who lives in, or used to live in Penicuik or has visited the town, to create a piece of bunting, either knitted or sewn. You can pick up a template from the library, the Arts Centre in West Street or download one from here or phone Ruth 07818 061918
Tell your friends, neighbours, relatives, here and abroad about this exciting project and lets make an incredible artefact which could be added to over the years.
Finished pieces can be handed in to the Art Centre at West Street or why not pop in on a Tuesday between 4 and 6 and create your piece of bunting alongside others?
